DynaStrip releases for Windows
- All job components from previous versions (such as marks, output devices, plate definitions) are compatible with the new DynaStrip version, so the latest version can be installed over an existing one. However, it is strongly recommended to keep a backup copy of the entire previous DynaStrip folder before upgrading. Please see Upgrade procedure in Release Notes document.
- You may need an activation code to use the latest version: contact activation@dynagram.com. You should obtain your upgrade code BEFORE installing.
- When launching the DynaStrip installer on a PC, you might get a security warning saying "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software ?", simply click on "Run" and the installation will proceed as expected.

What is new in this release: DynaStrip 7.0.0 - Windows
DynaStrip 7.0 carries on the productivity goal of the last DynaStrip upgrades by featuring even smarter Layout Reflow, quick access to object libraries and templates, new options for marks and Automation, and single job working files.
1.1 More Dynamic Objects for Layout Reflow
The Layout Reflow function is smarter than ever with the addition of new dynamic behaviours.
• Imported marks such as color bars can set to dynamically adapt to the sheet size. The image of the mark is cropped or repeated to fill the image area from the left side or the center, and an additional trim can be added to offset the mark from the sheet edges.
• Imported marks can also be attached to signatures. Their size and position are automatically adapted in all working situations: when manually placed on the light table, when used in mark sets and when using Layout Reflow.
• The sheet size can be modified at will while keeping the same relative signature position, in the center of the sheet, or snapped to the gripper. The position of all marks attached to the sheet will also adapt and color bars may resize to fit the new sheet format.
• When using Layout Reflow, all marks keep their intended position by detecting and memorizing anchor points relative to the object to which they are attached: sheet, signature or page. When the object is moved or resized, the marks follow in all circumstances.
The Layout Reflow function reads the number of pages and the trim box information from PDF documents and takes into account all changes done to the initial sheet layout to dynamically generate the entire job layout based on the new production data. The same template can thus be used again and again to build a complete imposition job with a single click.
Working on the light table is easier than ever with the convenient pull down menus for quick access to object libraries. Clicking on the Definition icon of an imposition object displays the list of all saved parameters for this object: sheet, signature, page, and all marks.
A quick access menu is also available for Sheet templates, in the Load template action icon of the Sheet Mode. Starting a new DynaStrip job from a template is now a breeze and when coupled with the Layout Reflow function, the new access to libraries truly empowers the prepress operator with a quick, robust and flexible production tool.
The new quick access menus are fully compatible with object definition files and templates created with previous DynaStrip versions. All files must be gathered in a central desktop or network folder that can be defined in the Preferences dialogue. Also note that the Preferences dialogue is now split in two distinct panels for Settings and Folders, for more convenience.
• DynaStrip jobs are now saved in a single .dsz working file to ease file sharing and archiving.
• DynaStrip Automation users will benefit from the live refresh of the document page preview (Raster Mode function). You can now watch the automated imposition process with page thumbnails popping up in the layout in real time.
• To allow for more visibility in this automation context, the maximum number of sheet that can be simultaneously displayed on the light table has been increased to 60.

DynaStrip 7.0 poursuit l'objectif de productivité des précédentes versions de DynaStrip en mettant en vedette une fonction de Refonte du montage encore plus intelligente, un accès rapide aux bibliothèques d'objets et de modèles, de nouvelles options pour les marques et l'automatisation, ainsi que des fichiers de travail uniques.
1.1 Objets plus dynamiques pour la Refonte du montage
La fonction de Refonte du montage est plus intelligente que jamais avec l'ajout de nouveaux comportements dynamiques.
• Les Marques importées telles que des barres de couleurs peuvent être définies pour s'adapter dynamiquement à la taille de la feuille. L'image de la marque est rognée ou répétée pour remplir la zone d'image à partir de la gauche ou du centre, et un retrait supplémentaire peut être ajouté pour ajuster la marque aux bords de feuille.
• Les Marques importées peuvent aussi être attachées à la signature. Leur taille et leur position sont automatiquement adaptées à toutes les situations de travail: lors du montage manuel sur la table lumineuse, lors de l'utilisation dans les jeux de marques, de même qu’avec la fonction de Refonte du montage.
• Le format de la feuille peut être modifié à volonté tout en gardant la même position relative pour la signature, soit dans le centre de la feuille ou près de la prise de pince. Les positions de toutes les marques attachées à la feuille s’adapteront et les barres de couleurs pourront être ajustées au nouveau format.
• Lors de l'utilisation de la fonction Refonte du montage, toutes les marques gardent leur position prévue par la détection et la mémorisation des points d'ancrage par rapport à l’objet auquel elles sont attachées: la feuille, la signature ou la page. Lorsque l'objet est déplacé ou redimensionné, les marques suivent en toutes circonstances.
La fonction Refonte du montage détecte le nombre et le format des pages à partir des documents PDF et tient compte de tous les changements effectués dans le montage de la feuille initiale afin de générer dynamiquement le travail d’imposition complet sur la base des nouvelles données de production. Le même modèle peut ainsi être utilisé encore et encore pour construire un plan d'imposition complet en un seul clic.
1.2 Accès rapide aux bibliothèques d’objets
Le travail sur la table lumineuse est plus facile que jamais avec les menus déroulants pratiques pour un accès rapide aux bibliothèques d'objets. Un clic sur l'icône de Définition d'un objet d’imposition affiche la liste de tous les paramètres enregistrés pour cet objet (feuille, signature, page, ou marques).
Un menu d'accès rapide est également disponible pour les modèles de feuilles, à partir de l'icône d'action Charger modèle du mode Feuille. Créer un travail DynaStrip à partir d'un modèle est désormais un jeu d'enfant et lorsque ce nouvel accès aux bibliothèques est couplé avec la fonction Refonte du montage, il procure véritablement à l'opérateur de prépresse un outil de production rapide, robuste et flexible.
Les nouveaux menus d’accès rapide sont entièrement compatibles avec les fichiers de définition d'objets et de modèles créés avec des versions précédentes de DynaStrip. Tous les fichiers doivent être rassemblés dans un dossier central sur l’ordinateur local ou sur le réseau, qui peut être défini dans le dialogue Préférences. Notez également que le dialogue Préférences est maintenant divisé en deux panneaux distincts pour les Réglages et les Dossiers, pour plus de commodité.

• Lors du positionnement manuel d'une marque importée sur une imposition en demi-feuille ou en tête-à-queue, un attribut à un seul côté est automatiquement appliqué.
• Le nombre maximum de Profils de sortie a été augmenté à 200 pour simplifier la création des flux de production de prépresse avec destinations de sortie multiples. Les Profils de sortie combinent les définitions de feuille et de plaque et permettent des ajustements spécifiques pour chaque combinaison feuille / plaque.

Due to a change in the multiple delivery (ganging of job) in DynaStrip 4.1.x and higher, customers that work in a PJTF and JDF environment will need to download a patch to ensure optimum compatibility between the DynaStrip imposition software and the Apogee X and Prinergy workflows.
If you are a 4.1.X user with the Apogee X or Prinergy workflow
- Upgrade your 4.1.x version to 4.2.1. Please contact sales@dynagram.com for more information.
- Download the DynaStrip 4.2.1C patch.
- Go to the Hard drive/Program Files/Dynagram/DynaStrip application folder and remove the DynaStrip executable that is already present in the application folder.
- Take the DynaStrip 4.2.1C patch and copy it in the DynaStrip application folder.
- Restart DynaStrip.

- With DynaStrip 4.2, users are no longer limited to single sheet templates. They can save a template with any number of selected sheets and load them as signatures or job sections for faster job creation.
- When importing a template, a new dialog prompts the user to attribute a pagination sequence to each imported signature.
- For Creep Only binding style, new pagination increment options are offered while keeping the folding pattern intact across the entire pagination sequence. The user can now continue page numbering from previous sequence or to increment pagination automatically based on the First page number field. Coupled with multiple-sheet templates, this feature allows for easier multi-web and complex job pagination.
- DynaStrip users may now group and identify imposition files based on pagination sequences. For example, a multi-web job containing three consecutive pagination sequences would produce three output files.
- A warning will appear every time an action risks overriding a manual pagination.
- The Signature mode now houses a paginate action (previously only in Page mode).
- The manual pagination dialog is now a floating palette.The Multi-web menu has been clarified for “Cut in half” pagination.

What is new in this release: DynaStrip 4.0.4 - Windows
Direct-layout PDF preview (Acrobat® 4.0+ required)
- The Raster Mode function can be used to display PDF pages directly in DynaStrip design window. The PDF preview offers the ability to customize the imposition layout based on the page content (example: bleed, crossover images, superimpositon of pages, etc.).
- When clicking on the Raster Mode icon, PDF pages (not thumbnails) show up in the imposition layout, allowing for accurate proofing even when zooming at any percentage.
Special spot color for Outline trim boxes
- DynaStrip has printing options for outline page trims that can be used for imposition proofing or layout only. Outline page trims now use a special color layer called DSOutline. Outlines do not print on other color plates. Therefore, output files created for proofing can also be used for final imaging (ROOM).
- DSOutline color definition can be customized using CMYK colors in the Preferences dialog box. The default color is red (100% Magenta + 100% Yellow).
Ability to place imported marks on a network server (multi-station installations)
- Imported mark definition and adjustment files are saved in the DynaStrip:Marks folder by default. Users can also choose a new folder in the Preferences dialog box.
- When sharing imported mark, it is important to keep the image intact on the server. Any modification in the Image Linker window would affect all jobs using this image. The image size can be changed for a specific job in the Imported Mark Definition window. The "Use this size" option will crop or repeat the image to automatically fill up the entire defined area.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: To use the shared Marks folder, open or create a job, then go to Preferences and link the Marks folder to a folder on the network. For easier use, we recommend that image files (EPS, PDF, etc.) be located in a sub-folder inside the Marks folder.

- Exporting a job from DynaStrip in JDF format produces two files: an imposition plan using the CIP4 Job Definition Format standard, plus a PDF file for imposition marks. This release of DynaStrip implements generic JDF imposition plans that may have to be more closely integrated with specific workflow systems.
New application icons
- DynaStrip 4.0 features new application and document icons. The main icon represents the encompassing stroke of DynaStrip logo and uses the product package background and colors. All tools icons in the application have also been upgraded to allow for background transparency.
PDF trapping annotations (Trap Network) imposition
- DynaStrip 4.0 offers the ability to impose PDF 1.3 trap network annotations used by Adobe® Extreme® PDF Trapper technology.
- About Trapper technology: When trapping a PDF file in an Extreme® system, the user specifies trapping controls in PJTF. The trapping is executed by the PDF Trapper technology, which generates the traps and stores them as a special annotation in the PDF file. The PDF file can then be printed to the Adobe Printer Job Ticket Processor or an Adobe PostScript 3 RIP. Users can view the trapped PDF file in Acrobat.
New PDF filter
- A new PDF filter detects PDF type (PDF1.3, PDF1.4, PDF/X, securized PDF files, etc.). After PDF document pages are updated in the Document list, the PDF type appears in the list for each file. If the filter encounters a secure or encrypted PDF file, the error message "SEC" displays in the list. The filter also permits PDF pages with a TrimBox definition or without proper cropping information to center automatically in DynaStrip pages.
PDF Output Device configuration for PDF 1.3 or 1.4 creation
- In the Configuration drop down menu of the Output Device Definition window, options are now available for PDF1.3 or PDF1.4. The selected PDF version number will be reflected in PDF imposition files in order to comply with output device’s specifications.
Populated PJTF (Windows only)
- JT imposition plans can now be populated with source files. The user simply has to index PDF files in the Document List & Imposition Index dialog, and output in PJTF mode as usual.
New support for EFI Velocity OneFlow®
- Job Tickets generated by DynaStrip 4.0 are now compatible with EFI Velocity OneFlow workflow system using PJTF output format. On DynaStrip 4.0 for Windows, imposition plans can also be populated with PDF files and benefit from direct-layout PDF page preview.

- DynaStrip has printing options for outline page trims that can be used for imposition proofing or layout only. Outline page trims now use a special color layer called DSOutline. Outlines do not print on other color plates. Therefore, output files created for proofing can also be used for final imaging (ROOM).
- DSOutline color definition can be customized using CMYK colors in the Preferences dialog box. The default color is red (100% Magenta + 100% Yellow).
Ability to place imported marks on a network server (multi-station installations)
- Imported mark definition and adjustment files are saved in the DynaStrip:Marks folder by default. Users can also choose a new folder in the Preferences dialog box.
- When sharing imported mark, it is important to keep the image intact on the server. Any modification in the Image Linker window would affect all jobs using this image. The image size can be changed for a specific job in the Imported Mark Definition window. The "Use this size" option will crop or repeat the image to automatically fill up the entire defined area.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: To use the shared Marks folder, open or create a job, then go to Preferences and link the Marks folder to a folder on the network. For easier use, we recommend that image files (EPS, PDF, etc.) be located in a sub-folder inside the Marks folder.
JDF output mode
- Exporting a job from DynaStrip in JDF format produces two files: an imposition plan using the CIP4 Job Definition Format standard, plus a PDF file for imposition marks. This release of DynaStrip implements generic JDF imposition plans that may have to be more closely integrated with specific workflow systems.
New application icons
- DynaStrip 4.0 features new application and document icons. The main icon represents the encompassing stroke of DynaStrip logo and uses the product package background and colors. All tools icons in the application have also been upgraded to allow for background transparency.
PDF trapping annotations (Trap Network) imposition
- DynaStrip 4.0 offers the ability to impose PDF 1.3 trap network annotations used by Adobe® Extreme® PDF Trapper technology.
- About Trapper technology: When trapping a PDF file in an Extreme® system, the user specifies trapping controls in PJTF. The trapping is executed by the PDF Trapper technology, which generates the traps and stores them as a special annotation in the PDF file. The PDF file can then be printed to the Adobe Printer Job Ticket Processor or an Adobe PostScript 3 RIP. Users can view the trapped PDF file in Acrobat.
New PDF filter
- A new PDF filter detects PDF type (PDF1.3, PDF1.4, PDF/X, securized PDF files, etc.). After PDF document pages are updated in the Document list, the PDF type appears in the list for each file. If the filter encounters a secure or encrypted PDF file, the error message "SEC" displays in the list. The filter also permits PDF pages with a TrimBox definition or without proper cropping information to center automatically in DynaStrip pages.
PDF Output Device configuration for PDF 1.3 or 1.4 creation
- In the Configuration drop down menu of the Output Device Definition window, options are now available for PDF1.3 or PDF1.4. The selected PDF version number will be reflected in PDF imposition files in order to comply with output device’s specifications.
Populated PJTF (Windows only)
- JT imposition plans can now be populated with source files. The user simply has to index PDF files in the Document List & Imposition Index dialog, and output in PJTF mode as usual.
New support for EFI Velocity OneFlow®
- Job Tickets generated by DynaStrip 4.0 are now compatible with EFI Velocity OneFlow workflow system using PJTF output format. On DynaStrip 4.0 for Windows, imposition plans can also be populated with PDF files and benefit from direct-layout PDF page preview.

Direct-layout PDF preview (Acrobat® 4.0+ required)
- The Raster Mode function can be used to display PDF pages directly in DynaStrip design window. The PDF preview offers the ability to customize the imposition layout based on the page content (example: bleed, crossover images, superimpositon of pages, etc.).
- When clicking on the Raster Mode icon, PDF pages (not thumbnails) show up in the imposition layout, allowing for accurate proofing even when zooming at any percentage.
